Along with the local version of the new Sonata, Hyundai is also showing the RB "concept" at the Moscow International Motor Show. What we're really looking at though is a thinly disguised version of the Russian market Verna/Accent subcompact, which originally made its world premiere at the Beijing Auto Show back in April.

Other than the "Orchid strokes", "fluidic essence", and the styling blah blah blah (we get it, Hyundai, the new models are full of emotion), this is some sort of international peace statement.

Seriously, the announcement says this model helps realize "the harmonic coexistence of all things created". Don't forget: you can't hug people with nuclear arms. The concept features a different hexagonal fascia (similar to that of the latest Tucson / iX35) for the Russian market (which seems a bit too rounded and conservative...the car, not the market), as well as a set of boomerang fog lamps.

The Russian RB/Verna/Accent will be built at Hyundai's St. Petersburg, Russia factory and should be on sale next spring. It will be powered by one of two new Gamma engines, either a 1.4-liter (107 hp, 135 Nm) or a 1.6-liter (124 hp, 156 Nm), hooked up to a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission.

The HED-5, named “i-mode” is a six-seater people carrier that hints -according to Hyundai, at a future MPV production model. The prototype crossover also showcases a series of advanced technologies like the rotating seat concept and the lightweight materials that replace the metal and glass surfaces.

More importantly though, the HED-5 I-MODE concept debuts Hyundai’s all-new 2.2-liter, twin-turbocharged diesel engine that develops an impressive 215 Hp and 47kgm of peak torque (461 Nm). The diesel unit will find its way into production with a single turbocharger in 2009 with the dual-stage turbocharged edition arriving in the first half of 2011. Hyundai will take the wraps off a six-seater MPV concept dubbed HED-5 at this year’s Geneva Motor Show in early March. The HED-5, which could very well base a production version of an i30 MPV (Elantra Touring in the States), promises to combine a new level of versatility with exceptional fuel economy. The concept MPV’s materials and construction techniques have been developed in co-operation with innovation partners such as Recaro, Bayer and LG.

Alongside the HED-5, Hyundai will also reveal the facelifted 2008 Matrix mini MPV featuring exterior and interior styling changes along with a new eco-friendly range of its current model line-up dubbed Eco-Dynamic. The latter will feature inexpensive systems such as aerodynamic bodykit, lower rolling resistance tires and different gear ratios to reduce CO2 emissions (up to 29%) and fuel consumption. –One more pic after the jump

A full set of images featuring the upcoming rear-wheel-drive Hyundai Genesis Coupe have been “leaked” into the internet and from the looks of it, the car in the picture is 99% production ready. The unknown scoop photographer passed the pictures on to a friend who in turn posted them on a Hyundai Tiburon forum.

According the person who took the photographs, the shots are from a presentation comparison for marketing purposes that took place somewhere in the USA this June. In the pictures, the Hyundai Coupe is set aside a Ford Mustang, thus giving us an idea of its exterior dimensions. Apart from the images, the poster also added several details about Hyundai’s new rear-wheel-drive coupe that were revealed at the presentation. According to the guy that attended the presentation, the new Coupe will be offered with two engine options, a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder unit producing 215 Hp and a 300 Hp strong 3.8-liter V6 unit. Initial prices were said to start at $19,900 (€13,500) for the 2.0L and $25,900 (€17,500) for the V6 model.

In a surprise move toady, Hyundai released the first official sketches of the Concept Genesis Coupe which will be unveiled at the 2007 L.A. Show in mid-November. As the Korean carmaker points out in the Spartan press release, the Genesis Coupe concept hints at Hyundai’s long-rumoured rear-wheel drive sports coupe.
