The onslaught of Ford's SEMA Show tuning products continues, this time with a sneak peek of the firm's F-Series truck proposals that will make their way to the Las Vegas Convention Center on November 2. Show-goers will have the chance to see customized versions of both the F-150 and Super Duty models.

"These trucks sell imagery across the board," said Melvin Betancourt, Ford specialty design manager. "Customers in the truck world want to go off-roading, or at least have the image that they can, or have a truck they can cruise in. We have trucks that fit everything in those categories." Scroll down for details and pictures on Ford's SEMA Show F-Series trucks.

Don't you just hate it when you buy a product and then a month later the company decides to release an upgraded version? Take owners who purchased a 2011 F-Series Super Duty diesel earlier this year, for example.

When the pickup was first launched onto the market, its 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbocharged diesel churned out 390HP and 735 lb-ft at 1,600rpm. Now Ford has presented a slightly more powerful version of the V8 producing 400 ponies and more significantly, 800 lb-ft of torque.

In what Ford describes as 'an industry first', the company has decided to upgrade the engines of all those past and any future (don't forget, there are vehicles sitting in dealer lots) 2011 F-Series Super Duty pickup customers free of charge.

"We want to take care of our loyal, F-Series Super Duty pickup owners who supported us when we debuted our all-new Ford-designed, Ford-engineered and Ford-built Power Stroke earlier this year and reward them by offering them the same best-in-class torque, horsepower and fuel economy our new customers are receiving right now," said Barb Samardzich, Ford Motor Company's vice president of powertrain engineering.

Ford said that eligible owners will receive a letter inviting them to their local dealership for the free 30-minute software upgrade to the truck's powertrain control module. The upgrade program will begin by August 31 and continue for the next 12 months.

Ford today announced that its 2012 model year F-Series medium-duty chassis cab, scheduled for a market launch in the fourth quarter of 2011, will be available with the firm's gasoline-sipping 6.8-liter V10 engine.

The three-valve, single-overhead-camshaft V10 is rated at 362-horsepower at 4,750 rpm and 457 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,250 rpm. According to Ford, gross vehicle weight ratings for Class 6 and Class 7 medium-duty trucks equipped with the V10 gasoline unit will range from 20,500 to 30,000 pounds.

"No other manufacturer offers this wide of a range of options and solutions for truck customers," said Len Deluca, Ford director for Commercial Truck Sales and Marketing. "The availability of a gas engine in this medium-duty segment will be welcome news to many businesses and municipalities."

The V10 engine will be hooked up to the same heavy-duty six-speed TorqShift automatic transmission used on the new 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbocharged diesel engine that powers the 2011 Ford F-Series Super Duty trucks.

As an option, the company will offer buyers the same alternative fuels engine package that will become available this fall on the F-450 and F-550 Super Duty chassis cab trucks that use the 6.8-liter V10. The factory-installed conversion option allows the use of compressed natural gas (CNG) or propane (LPG, or liquefied petroleum gas).

We can’t say that we really liked any of the car related ads of this year’s Super Bowl. Take Dodge’s “Ring” add featuring the 2008 Ram going in the ring with a robot or Ford’s pseudo-techy commercial with the F-Series Super Duty for example. Both of them are so “original” if you changed roles placing the F-Series in the ring and vice-versa, no one would blink an eye. -Continued: Click “Read More…” below to see the Ford F-Series TV Ad
