In this commercial fat, donut-eating, cops get a kick out of the Shelby GT in a high speed chase with, well, themselves. I guess those who are supposed to enforce “safe driving” are apt to ignore the rules when they get their hands on Shelby’s latest incarnation of the Mustang. Via: Autoblog.com

VW is broadening it’s “Cross” family line-up with the presentation of the CrossTouran at the 30th Bologna Motor Show (7-17 Dec). Just like the “GTI” or “R” products, “Cross” represents an independent product brand in VW’s line-up that adds an “SUV” touch in terms of looks, to ordinary passenger models.

Although the CrossTouran is nothing more than a, well, Touran with an SUV bodykit –there’s no 4x4 system here, I have to admit that it looks quite better than its blunt counterpart. More specifically, the CrossTouran is distinguished by an all-around body protection pack that consist of a black-grained carbon fiber covering bumper lower sections, side running boards, wheel arches, side protective trim. The central air inlet in the front spoiler was also given a border in “matte chrome” look while the roof rails are silver.

The Cross Touran also receives new 17’’ alloys on 215/50 tires in front and, 235/45 tires at the rear. Finally, the off-road look is enhanced by raising the ground clearance by 12 mm. In order to gain those extra mm’s of ground clearance the CrossTouran was equipped with a modified version of the rough-track chassis that is optional for this series: it also includes a longer suspension system. In the interior the only difference between the CrossTouran and the Touran concerns the new available upholstery colors.

As for the engine range, the VW CrossTouran will be available with three petrol engines (1.6 102 Hp, 1.4 TSI with 140 & 170 Hp) and three diesel (1.9 TDI 105 Hp and 2.0 TDI with 140 & 170 Hp). Via: Autoblog.it & VW

It’s amazing what 400$ worth of tape measure, box cutters and some electrical tape can accomplish these days. With these tools and a little ambition the guys at WindingRoad online mag were able to fool thousands of readers and hundreds of Automotiove journalists by creating the rumored, but unannounced, Blue Devil Corvette. Among those fooled not only included little
and big blogs but also big shot automotive mags such as MotorTrend and Autoweek.

The secret was revealed in the latest online edition (01/01/07) of WindingRoad. During the past 24 hours many blogs and internet sites were forced to publish “retractions”. Some were pissed, some found it amusing, but most were left speechless.

Carscoop didn’t join in on the ring around the Blue Devil game not because we weren’t fooled but when the news came out, the corner bar had 99c drafts plus my girlfriend had PMS so I was indisposed for the weekend.

Anyway, in my personal opinion WindingRoad might have created a poor reputation as a reliable news source but I’m sure it has succeeded in increasing its site traffic…tremendously which is certainly what it set out to do in the first place. Big deal! It took a whole magazine staff to creat
e a fake “something” that one person could accomplish on a photoshop in a damn internet cafĂ©. Aside from the fact that faking news has been done in the past- remember the faux beheading video in Iraq a few years ago?

WindingRoad says that they did it to show GM how bad the public wants this Blue Devil and that the “Game is over” seeing as all the big mags fell for it “hook, line and sinker.” Carscoop says, you reap what you sow.

Undoubtedly, the most significant debut at this year’s LA Auto Show, the Tiguan Concept is just one-step away from production. Based on the Golf V / Rabbit platform, VW’s answer to the Toyota RAV-4 and Honda CR-V will officially make its premiere as a production model in September 2007 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Till then, take a few minutes off and enjoy this 4 min long video that we've taken the courtesy to dress with Manu Chao’s 1998 “King of the Bongo” song.

A little DC-tweety bird has provided the folks over at ChargerForums with a couple of pics and new information concerning the upcoming Dodge Charger Daytona R/T Sublime Edition. Besides the obvious fact that it’ll only be available in a Sublime metallic colour that comes straight from the fuzzy-wuzzy muscle car-era of the 70’s here’s what “tweety” informed them:

  • Targeted for December production - the Charger Daytona R/T is re-introduced for the 2007 Model Year.
  • The Sublime Daytona R/T builds on the tradition set by its' three predecessors and is the 4th edition in the Daytona series.
  • A limited number of 1,500 units will be built for the US market.
  • Enhancements to the Sublime Daytona include the addition of 20” chrome clad wheels and 245/45R20 all season performance tires.

There’s been a little “tift” between the guys at Chrysler and the guys at Jalopnik over a gag ad they retrieved from a Chrysler internal source. The ad contained various profane language and a little humor that was meant to be enjoyed only by the Chrysler people. Now wasn’t that selfish of them? Didn’t anyone teach Chrysler that secrets don’t make friends!

Now as bloggers ourselves, we can’t help but comment on the situation. We probably would have done the same thing all in the name of a little chuckle. Ray Wert, from Jalopnik, responded to the removal in a posting stating that Chryslers executives have "gone so far as to head on over to YouTube like a petulant child asking them 'Mommy, make Jalopnik stop running leaks they get from the Tech Center!”

Chrysler probably should have just left it alone because like our friend John Neff at Autoblog said, Chrysler seemed cool for about 15 minutes “for being involved in an ad with swearing and other entirely unairable content.” On the other hand, if it continued to air we’re sure this one would send the conservatives trading in their Sebrings for a Crown Vic with a Christ Loves Me sticker on it. And Chrysler wouldn’t want that, would they?

So, what the “fuchten” is this? Well, except from being a concept that premieres at the 2006 Essen Motor Show, according to its makers, university students, Tilmann Schlootz und Oliver Keller, “the Baal is a cross between a crawler type-vehicle and a motorcycle that wears a 60 Hp engine and has a top speed of 130 Km/h” . Aha, ok now I get it…
